Does it squeak?: Yes at both ends

Manufacturer  tough rating: 9

Visual appearance: 8 quite tidy and nice printed material.

After the Hammerhead shark week we decided to give Tuffy another shot. This time with a solid bodied toy, no fins or bits hanging off.

Rigby didn’t take to this toy as much as others. He chewed at it a couple of times but no where near as much as others. This being said when he did chew, he chewed hard. He placed it in the back of his mouth and chomped for a good 10minutes.

The squeak is very quiet and takes some force to make a sound that is muffled at best.

We have had this for close to 2 weeks now and have found that it is extremely strong but not as fun.

Available from: Any reputable pet store and supermarket

Price: £1.59 – £2.69 for a 7 pack it pays to shop around for these.

Manufacturer  tough rating: N/A

Does it squeak?: No

Visual appearance: 6 (we think these look quite tasty and they smell great)

These smell great and with the amount of kisses dished out in this house by our pups nothing could be better than minty fresh breath.

I gave Rigby one of these and went to turn the TV on. When I turned round 30 seconds later it had gone.

I tried again the next day watching carefully to check he was chewing it properly, he was, and again in less than a minute it was gone.

The chew gave him great minty breath, the mint only lasted for around 30minutes or until he decided to have a drink.

I truly doubt this did anything for his teeth in the few seconds it was there and is definitely not an alternative to regular brushing.

Field Hockey Ball

Price: £3- £8

Does it squeak?: No

With a mouth that I could most probably fit my whole head in finding a ball for Rigby’s giant chops is a difficult task. After seeing him try to devourer a tennis ball at the rescue and with him not knowing a leave command at a time the fear of him swallowing and choking or it getting stuck was all to real.

With his leave command growing stronger each day we decided to try him with a ball and luckily had a hockey ball at hand.

It measures 9″ in diameter and is quite a weighty ball. Dimpled all round it was easy enough for him to pick up and throw around.

One thing I should mention is that we have found this is not an indoor toy. It has the ability to smash things, like when Rigby decides to play catch by him self and also can really bruise when dropped on toes, like when Rigby decides to include you in his game of catch.

This toy lasted 13 days. Then unfortunately chunks were falling out.

Does it squeak?: Yes

When we saw the Hammerhead Shark on a side aisle of Pets at Home we were instantly drawn to the look of it. Double quilted stitching and thick webbed seams holding it all together. It is one of the more appealing in the Tuffy range due to it’s natural colours, others tending to be more on the psychedelic side of the colour spectrum.

Day one and it had survived without any major marking or tears. We noticed the stitching had become loose from Rigby playing tug with our 5month puppy Bracken.

Day two and we had some serious tears appearing around the fins. Not being part of the hard body these flimsy fins were starting to cause a problem.

Day three we have lost a fin.

Day seven we have lost another fin and at this point we remove the toy to stop Rigby from consuming any parts.

It didn’t last the week but kept him engaged and entertained. No stuffing was exposed on the parts he teared off and apart from the stitching the main body is looking pretty good.
